Northen Mallorca

The northern part of the island is home to Badia de Pollenca and Badia d'Alcudia - two large sweeping bays that are very popular with tourists during the summer and consequently, there is a large stock of holiday rental accommodation. In the north western corner, there is the Serra de Tramuntana - Mallorca's largest mountain range running from Andratx to Pollenca with the Puig Major topping out at 1445m. These mountains are home to some of Mallorca's most extravagant and secluded villas and attract the adventure travellers who like trekking and mountain biking.

Southern Mallorca

The south of the island is home to the capital, Palma de Mallorca and some of the better known beach resorts such as Magaluf, Palmanova, Portals Nous, Santa Ponca and Peguera. There is also the Serra de Llevant - Mallorca's second mountain range in the south east which, whilst not as steep or high as the Serra de Tramuntana, still provides walking and cycling trails for beginners through to experts.

For windsurfing and kitesurfing, the beaches around Can Pastilla are on a par with Pollensa in the north whilst the coves around the southwest of the island are famous for snorkelling and diving.

Mallorca holiday rentals

Self-catering holiday rentals along the beach resorts and villages of Mallorca are plentiful and certainly good value especially for family holidays. You will find beachfront villas, often with private swimming pool, spacious apartments and family holiday homes to rent along the entire coast. Around the mountainous north eastern region of the island, the beach villas are replaced by exquisite hillside fincas (country estates) that are ideal for getting away from all the bustle ofen found in the popular coastal resorts.
