Las Palmas is the capital of Gran Canaria, one of Spain's Canary Islands and is set in magnificent scenery composed of two bays. The city is known for duty-free shopping and its beautiful sweeping sandy beaches like Playa de las Canteras where a coral barrier lines the beach and shelters swimmers and Playa de las Alcaravaneras which is the most popular as there are no waves. Due to the islands excellent climatic conditions, the beaches are used all year round.

It has a bustling city is full of Spanish ambience, and boasts an important historical and cultural heritage, much of which can be found in the district of Vegueta. This is the oldest quater and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990. There is also an annual carnival with music and dancing and almost every weekend one can watch vela latina regattas (Canarian lateen sailing) which is a native sport.

Our view on Las Palmas

Las Palmas is a fabulous destination to rent a villa all year round with its temperate climate, and will suit all tastes as there is a vast array of different things to do from watersport to historic sites, as well as being the perfect place to relax on the stunning beaches. There are a wonderful choice of resturants for dining out where you can try a large variety of traditional dishes, tapas and delicious pastries and confectionery made in the surrounding villages.
