Sainte-Marie holidays - sitting on the Atlantic side of Martinique, Sainte-Marie was founded in 1658 by the Dominicans and is the fifth largest town on the island. There are many tourist attractions in the area with the most popular being a walk over the tombolo, a natural sandbank created by ocean currents, to Sainte-Marie islet. The islet is only accessible on foot from December to April.

To get a real feel for the town and the local area, you can take the relaxing plantation train which departs from the Musée du Rhum Saint James and takes you to the Banana Museum passing through sugar cane fields and banana trees.

There are plenty of cafes, beach bars and restaurants in the area, including street food influenced by both French and Caribbean culinary. For evening entertainment Sainte-Marie has you covered with many bars and restaurants to chose from.
