Otranto villas Holiday rentals - villas & holiday homes to rent in Otranto, Puglia

Otranto is a beautiful coastal city and port looking on to the Adriatic sea on the Salentina peninsula in southern Italy.

The historic and fortified old town with its famous Castello Aragonese is laced with narrow cobbled streets that flow off Piazza Castello. These are lined by pretty boutiques, cafes, bars and restaurants.

The seafront promenade next to the small beach is a popular place for the evening "passeggiata" before heading to one of the excellent seafood restaurants for some alfresco dining. And, for for late night dancing, Otranto is home to some of the best clubs and beach parties in Salento.

Otranto is the perfect place to discover and explore Puglia's cuisine which is characterised by fresh fish, garlic, olive oil, tomato sauce and aromatic herbs. However, being in Puglia, Otranto also offers its visitors the experience of tasting some of the finest wines in Italy - many of which never reach shop shelves as they are for local consumption only! The local grapes are Negroamaro, Primitivo (the same grape as California’s Zinfandel) and Bombino Nero which produce fruity full bodied classics such as Salice Salentino and Primitivo.
