Bonifacio villa holidays Self catering holidays in Bonifacio, Corsica

Bonifacio is a breathtakingly beautiful fortress town on the southern tip of Corsica. Standing proud on its headland is a citadel comprising of a magnificent fortress overlooking the sea and marina below. The castle walls and ancient houses look like they have been built out of the cliff itself which is a remarkable example of architectural and cultural heritage. Established in 833, Bonifacio has such a rich history and many historic sites of interest to visit.

Bonifacio boasts an incredible selection of restaurants around the natural marina below the citadel which is very pretty and due to its proximity to Sardinia, only 12 kms away, this town has a distinctly Italian atmosphere rather than French. It even has its own dialect based on Ligurian Italian. In the evening the town has a lively atmosphere with an array of quayside cafés which overlook the luxury yacht-filled harbour, and a delightful choice of restaurants and clubs to choose from.
